AN AFTERNOON WITH...

WOULD YOU LIKE TO PERFORM?

A series of live mini-concerts in our arts café. Free entry to the public.

The Dressing Room is an arts café based at The Edge Theatre & Arts Centre in Chorlton, South Manchester. The Edge delivers high-quality professional theatre performances and a rich programme of meaningful and potentially life changing participatory activities. Our customers include: the homeless, learning disabled children and adults, offenders, refugees, people with mental-health, drug or alcohol dependencies.

The Dressing Room Café doubles up as a training centre in hospitality for adults with learning difficulties. We work with trainees over 12 weeks, building their confidence and key life skills.

We have introduced a new mini-concert series in the café to our current programme of activities and are seeking volunteer performers to perform in the Café to give our trainees experience of working and experiencing live music events and the concerts are part of an outreach programme with older people in the area. The afternoons take place the first Thursday of every month.

This month we welcome Los Firuletes!

Los Firuletes Tango Duo play an energetic mix of classic Argentinian Tangos from the golden age of 1920s and 30s, the Tango Nuevos of Astor Piazzolla and some light classical and popular jazz standards.

Together Amy and Art have been performing as Los Firuletes since 2015 and have recently completed a run of professional engagements for Manchester International Festival and Didsbury Arts festival. In May 2017 they performed Piazzolla’s double concerto at Royal Northern College of music with a small string orchestra in a very well attended public concert. In 2017 Los Firuletes began working with the charity Music in Hospitals and Care and providing outreach concerts for vulnerable people in care homes and hospitals.
