When is it?

Monthly, on the first Wednesday of the month.

Where?

In the Studio 1. Refreshments will be available from The Dressing Room Cafe Bar.

Do I need any acting experience or talent?

No, it really is for all.

Do I have to read?

You are welcome to come along and listen and join in the discussion if you want to.

Is it open to everyone?

Yes – over the age of 16.

Does it just involve reading?

No we expect to discuss the play and issues raised by the play.

Do I have to prepare anything?

No. Playscripts will be provided.

Do I have to come every month?

No you can just ‘drop in’. Though we are hoping to build a group who will help decide what the group does as we evolve.

How much does it cost?

£7 per session, bookable in advance.

Do I need to book?

Yes, you can book online via our website, or in person at The Edge.

A monthly play reading in the café – open to anyone over the age of 16.

Part play reading, part discussion, part whatever the group want to make it. Plays will be chosen initially to link up with an event at The Edge, or in the wider world – but after that we will be open to suggestions from the group.

Please note booking is essential.

About Viv & Chris

Viv Gardner, late of the Drama Department at the University of Manchester, is a regular play reading organiser for the Royal Exchange Theatre.  Chris Phillips, with Viv, graduated from the University of Manchester Drama Department, then went on to run a theatre company in the Isle of Man, Lancashire village halls and Manchester schools before moving into publishing and freelance writing.
