BEGINNERS: This is for you if you’re picking up the instrument for the first time. Learn basic chords and build up to playing a simple tune.
INTERMEDIATE: This is for you if you’ve grasped the basics of ukulele playing but want to improve your confidence.
ADVANCED: If you’ve been uke-ing out in your bedroom and have a basic knowledge of the instrument then this session is for you. We will be learning arrangements of popular tunes for the ukulele and forming our own ukulele orchestra. If you can sing that’s a plus but not essential!
The sessions are a great way to meet new people and have a laugh on a Wednesday night, as well as playing some great tunes on this brilliant little instrument!
You can buy a ukulele from Forsyths on Deansgate Manchester at a discount. Just take along your Ukulele Club booking.

1. Do I have to sign up to the whole course?

2. I have never played before – can I come along?
Yes, we recommend enrolling on the Beginners Uke course.
3. I have quite a bit of experience – is this still the class for me?
Yes, Intermediate or Advanced would be best suited to you.
4. Where should I come on the day?
When in The Edge turn right, then follow the sweet sound of ukulele music to the end of the corridor on the ground floor!
5. What do I need to bring with me?
Just a ukulele! Everything else is provided, though a tuner is always useful!
6. Do you have changing facilities?
Yes, there are changing facilities in the disabled toilet on the ground floor, straight ahead as soon as you enter the building.
7. What other facilities do you have?
We have a café at The Edge called “The Dressing Room” which serves up delicious hot food, fresh salads and homemade cakes – as well as delicious hot and cold drinks. The café is also a training centre for adults with learning disabilities. And because The Edge is a charity, you know that every penny you spend in the café is going back into the work that we do with children and vulnerable adults.
8. Can I just turn up on the night and pay for the course then?
Yes, not a problem. You can also sign up online.
9. Does it matter if I miss a class?
No, I will keep you a copy of the week’s work and do my best to bring you up to speed. You will, however, make better progress if you attend every class.
