Last week the Excelerate Labs Celebration of Success Awards 2018 took place in Manchester City Centre, we are thrilled to have received Social Impact Using The Arts Award! The event celebrated a diverse spectrum of businesses in Greater Manchester, celebrating businesses that are ‘the life-blood of our economy, which create jobs, offering social good, show entrepreneurial excellence and becoming role models for other business owners and budding entrepreneurs’.
Janine Waters, our Artistic Director and CEO accepted the award for Social Impact:
Janine originally trained and worked as a professional actor before moving into participatory theatre, writing and directing. In 2011 she co-founded the The Edge and has developed it into the thriving and successful arts Centre that it is today, with over 620 people actively taking part in creative activities in the building each week and a further 70+ through our outreach work. The Edge has a commitment to working with vulnerable adults and young people and runs a theatre company with The Booth Centre for adults experiencing or at risk of homelessness, two theatre companies and a dance company for adults with learning disabilities and a theatre company for young people with learning disabilities.
