Presented by Think & Hit and proudly part of Chorlton Arts Festival is the fabulous one-woman show, The Indecent Musings of Miss Doncaster 2007.
Life hasn’t quite turned out the way she thought it would when she accepted her sash and crown in Trilogy nightclub back in 2007. No one goes out anymore. Tinder is sh*t. And she’s pretty sure her dad is dying. Things couldn’t get much worse. Until she sits on a cactus… naked.
Written and performed by Annabel York, The Indecent Musings of Miss Doncaster 2007 is a cuttingly funny show built around the character Miss Donny 2007, described as the most relatable beauty queen on the other side of the Pennines.
This ballsy one-woman show tells a bold, triumphant story about how we can survive and thrive when all the odds are stacked against us. It has won a string of brilliant reviews, hailing York’s performance as ‘punchy’, funny’, ‘insightful’ and ‘heart-breaking’.
Stay tuned for a short, sweet and very salacious Q&A with none other than Miss Doncaster 2007.
What was your biggest inspiration for developing the iconic character of Miss Doncaster?
I wanted to write something where I had all the lines.
What is it about Miss Doncaster that makes her so hilariously relatable?
I mean who hasn’t had their fanny vacuum-packed against a stranger’s face?
How did you balance the darker themes against the running backdrop of humour?
Whenever it started to feel a bit too real we thought, god we better stick another joke in there.
What is it about Miss Doncaster’s character that allows her to command an entire audience completely on her own?
Egomania.
What is one thing we can all learn from Miss Doncaster?
Sometimes, the shit will hit the fan and you might not be able to clear it all up. But you’ll carry that sh*t with you, like a little sh*t rucksack – and you’ll be stronger for it.
